Do you use additives?

Yes, we use a small number of additives commonly found in winemaking. These additives play important roles in preserving the quality and taste of our wines:

Preservatives: Sulphur dioxide helps prevent spoilage by bacteria.

Stability:

  • CMC and Gumarabic help prevent the formation of crystals that can cloud the wine.
  • Mannoproteins contribute to a smoother mouthfeel, especially in sparkling wines.
  • Glycerol (in small amounts) adds a touch of sweetness and improves mouthfeel.

Sweetness: We use grape-derived sugars to adjust sweetness levels if needed.

Oak ageing: American and French oak barrels are used in some varieties to add specific flavour profiles.

How does the calorie count in non-alc wines compare with alcoholic wines?

Less alcohol, less calories! Lautus non-alcoholic wines are lower in calories than alcoholic options due to the absence of alcohol calories. The remaining calories come from natural and added sugars. Hop over to our Discover our wines for specific metrics.

Can I drink Lautus Wines wine while pregnant?

Check with your healthcare provider.

Do you have a tasting room?

We do not have a tasting room. We are however more than happy to host a tasting at your venue. Simply fill out our contact form and we’ll be in touch.

Is it like grape juice?

No, de-alcoholised wine gets made using standard winemaking practices - the wine is fermented, allowing it to develop the complex flavours wine drinkers enjoy. Then, two weeks before bottling, we remove the alcohol with spinning-cone technology, leaving the complex premium quality wine without the alcohol content. Whereas grape juice is about capturing the natural flavour of the grapes from the moment they're crushed.

Curious about what 0.5% alcohol in wine really means?

Think of it as a tiny fraction - less than 1/100th of the alcohol found in a typical glass of wine.

Will de-alcoholised wine affect me like alcoholic wine?

Not at all, all the negative effects of wine come from the alcohol. Not only will you avoid a hangover, you’ll also avoid the skin drying effects of alcohol, and get a good night’s sleep.
